Coding
Lately, quite a few people have been asking me for advice in coding web pages. I've always had the intention to publish some coding tips and links, and I feel the time has come.
- PHP dumped photo gallery
- The source code for the PHP script I use to add navigation to photographs simply dumped into a directory.
- Links
- A list of links to web resources. And why I won't write a complete HTML tutorial for you.
- HTML Express
- A minimalistic HTML course, from scratch. For beginners, newbies, and people who either are scared to learn HTML, or don't want to.
Dive in - it will be quick and painless. - CSS Basics
- Why one should use CSS, and how to get around to it. A few tips, tricks and guidelines to get you started, and a good list of online resources and tutorials.
- PHP Basics
- PHP is a server-side scripting language that can help you make the maintenance of your pages much easier. Have a look, it's not that complicated!
- Guidelines
- A compilation of the coding guidelines I (try to) follow. What to do, what not to do. A little bit of "why", too.
- Issues
- Discussion of some issues related to coding and web-publishing. From explanations for newbies to "hot" subjects like standards.
- PHP permalinks for Blogger
- If you use includes for your site, and have Blogger generate one of them, you might have found yourself stuck with permalinks. Here is a solution.
- PHP/MYSQL backlinks
- Ever noticed how links are "one-way"? This script allows them to be "two-way": on each page, you get a list of incoming links - "backlinks". For reasonably proficient coders!
- PHP comments for Blogger
- The source code for the PHP comments script I use. The place I got it from being no longer available, here it is, with comments and explanations.
- Table-less
- Here is the story of transforming this layout into a table-less one. You shouldn't see any difference if you're using a standards-compliant browser. Oh, and be sure to check the IE5 mac bug I might have found.
Contribuez!
